E&S Awarded Visual System Contract for UK MTDS Program

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, January 5, 2006—Evans & Sutherland Computer Corporation (E&S®) (NASDAQ: ESCC) announced today that the company has been awarded a contract by cueSim for two 12-channel EPX™-50 systems and two databases to be incorporated in the Capability Concept Demonstrator (CCD) for the UK MoD Mission Training Through Distributed Simulation (UK MTDS). The program will enable pilots to train in multi-aircraft combat engagements and “fly” with coalition and other services in a realistic virtual combat environment.

E&S is a member of the QinetiQ-led Team ACTIVE (Aircrew Collective Training through Immersive Virtual Events), which includes QinetiQ, Boeing, cueSim Ltd., E&S, Aviation Training International Ltd. (ATIL) and HVR Consulting Services Ltd.

“The selection of Team ACTIVE for the MTDS CCD, which will include E&S EPX technology, is an exciting and important step for Evans & Sutherland and further validates our significant investment in this revolutionary new technology,” said E&S Simulation Systems Vice President, Dave Figgins. “EPX has been developed to specifically address the training and visualization needs of military customers in an environment that changes rapidly from day to day. EPX technology provides the flexibility to rapidly update databases and training scenarios, making it ideal for testing training concepts and evolving them over time.”

“I look forward to following E&S involvement in the CCD program, in particular, the utilization of EPX-50 technology within the Air Battlespace Training Centre and the integration with some of our legacy simulators. This will be our main testing ground during the next 30 months, and I am confident that these will be exciting times,” said Air Commodore Robert McAlpine, ACOS Operational Training, Headquarters Strike Command, Royal Air Force.

About EPX

Evans & Sutherland's EPX is designed to deliver flexibility, responsiveness, and performance for the most demanding military training requirements. EPX software runs on hardware with a range of prices and capabilities, allowing customers to select the right hardware platform for their specific training missions. The unique, layered architecture of the software enhances reliability and allows rapid database creation and update from source materials. Since EPX databases are delivered as source data, the same data can be used in multiple applications and updated incrementally as new source materials become available. In addition, all EPX products are equipped with a 3D whole-earth terrain model and delivered with three high-resolution insets to allow training to begin immediately.
